[VENT] Darned smash repairs

Don't ever choose to own an old, 'imported' or 'limited' vehicle.
Or don't be a scrooge and actually have insurance even if you have to scrimp on everything else to afford it

Just got a quote on the smash damage repairs from when someone reversed into our car - left hand headlight / bumper - in a carpark (yep, amazing).
Who'd have thought it would be *that* much to repair?

Apparently behind the headlight is damaged, head light, park light, bumper, insert more jibberish here that sort of went over my head while I tried to swallow the quote figure.

Old, imported, limited vehicles have hard to come by and expensive parts. *sigh*
Then it also needs a mechanical service, who knows if there is mechanical damage on top of the smash repairs.
Aaaand Tyres.

So, when you add all that up, and then look at redbook for private sale prices to see how much it is actually worth...
Yeah, the car may as well be a blooming write off.

Grrr.

Wouldn't have a clue, it happened in a carpark while we were inside. With no carpark surveillance there isn't much they can do.
